A Brazilian referee, Gabriel Murta, is facing disciplinary action for threatening player with a gun during a football match. The shocking incident happened at the weekend during a regional league match.
League president Valdenir de Castro claimed Murta was kicked and slapped after Amantes da Bola subs and the manager invaded the pitch to demand a red card for a rival team player.
Murta, who works as a policeman during the day, ran into the dressing room, picked his handgun and came back to the pitch and threatened his molesters to have a go at him again.
The referee was restrained by the linesmen on duty while video recording showed what seemed to be the player who assaulted him running away from the pitch.
The referee is now facing a possible suspension but the Referee Association say that the ref was only defending himself.
Do you believe the ref was wrong in his actions?
